About the clinic
Who runs the clinic, what it does and does not do, and where in-person visits take place.
Mission
A referral-based, physician-led paediatric bowel and bladder dysfunction service with standardized intake, triage, virtual-first care, clear in-person escalation, and consistent guideline-based treatment with a personalized, family-focused approach.
What the clinic is
- A community-based paediatric clinic serving Ontario, run by a paediatrician.
- Virtual-first: the first visit and most follow-up visits are by video or phone.
- In-person escalation: when an examination is needed, it is arranged at a designated partner clinic in the Greater Toronto Area.
- Referral-based: a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner is required. The clinic does not accept self-referrals.
- Guideline-based: treatment follows published Canadian and international paediatric constipation and enuresis guidance, with the same handouts and plans for every family.
What the clinic is not
- Not an emergency or urgent care service. A child who is unwell needs their own doctor, an emergency department or 911.
- Not a hospital subspecialty service. Children with the presentations listed under "Referrals the clinic does not accept" on the Refer page are directed to the appropriate hospital service.
- Not a walk-in clinic and not a replacement for a child's primary care provider, who remains responsible for the child's overall care.
Scope of practice
Referrals accepted routinely
- Functional constipation
- Encopresis
- Primary nocturnal enuresis
- Daytime urgency or frequency
- Infrequent voiding
- Suspected dysfunctional voiding without red flags
Referrals accepted but reviewed by the physician before booking
These referrals are accepted but the physician reviews them first and may ask for more information or suggest a different pathway:
- Secondary enuresis
- Daytime symptoms plus bedwetting
- Recurrent afebrile UTIs
- Multiple failed prior treatments
- Significant ADHD, anxiety, autism or developmental complexity
- Prior urology or GI involvement

Languages
Visits are offered in English. Families who need an interpreter should let the clinic know at intake so this can be arranged.

The clinic starts accepting referrals in January 2027. The criteria are published now.
A parent or guardian?
Families cannot refer themselves. Your child's doctor or nurse practitioner decides whether a referral to the clinic is right.
